An Island Rhythm That Turns the Ordinary Upside Down

Some sessions just click. There’s no forcing it, no overthinking — everything flows the moment the camera comes out. Working with Ava Pascarella was exactly that kind of experience.

From the beginning, Ava brought such an easy, positive energy into the room. She was friendly, open, and completely comfortable being herself. Every pose felt natural, not because it was planned, but because she trusted the process and showed up with confidence.

One of my favorite moments happened when I decided to switch things up. I had Ava lie on the floor like we were about to set up a serious pose, then jokingly told her to start flapping her arms like she was swimming. She didn’t hesitate — she went all in. What followed was pure freestyle, real laughter, and one of those moments that can’t be staged. We were laughing so hard it carried on long after the camera was down.

That moment stuck. Even now, every time we see each other, we end up laughing about it all over again.

The session took place at True Dance Potential, a space that encourages dancers to explore who they are beyond choreography. Ava fit right into that environment, bringing her own rhythm, personality, and presence into every frame.

What stood out most wasn’t just how Ava moved, but how she carried herself — relaxed, confident, and fully present. Those are the moments I care about capturing. Not perfection, but honesty.

Ava, thank you for trusting me, for leaning into the unexpected, and for making this session such a good memory. That trust is what allows work like this to exist.

Let's Connect

I work with dancers and studios across the United States, creating portrait and movement imagery that feels real and personal. If you’re looking to create something that reflects who you are, wherever you’re based, I’d love to connect.
