Truth doesn’t always need a voice—it can live in a stare.
Emma Parkes and Bridget Parkes are sisters, part of a set of triplets, and in a season of becoming. These portraits weren’t about dance positions or performance moments. They were about presence. About capturing who they are in between the training, the repetition, and the work that happens long before the spotlight.
While both sisters train at True Dance Potential, this session focused on portraiture—on stillness rather than movement. Yet behind every quiet frame sits the discipline of their craft. Strength training. Balance work. Technique drills. Reps and sets repeated until they become instinct. I also captured moments of that process—photos and video of the work itself—because even when the body is still, the training lives inside the posture, the gaze, the confidence.
Emma has been accepted to the University of South Carolina, and Bridget to Texas Christian University. Two different schools. Two different directions. Both earned through commitment and consistency.
What stood out most wasn’t that they are sisters, or that they come from the same starting point. It was how differently they show up—how each carries her own energy, her own calm, her own certainty. Portrait photography has a way of revealing that. It gives space for individuality without asking for explanation.
These images are less about where they’re going and more about who they are right now—on the edge of something new, grounded in years of preparation, and ready to step forward on their own terms.
Sometimes the most honest moments don’t happen in motion.
