Sometimes the best stories happen when you listen.
I originally reached out to Brayden Moon’s parents to see if he might be interested in being photographed or filmed while playing baseball. His dad asked him what he thought—and Brayden’s answer changed everything.

He didn’t hesitate.
“I want him to be there for my training.”
So instead of a baseball field, I found myself at the Academy of Boxing in Huntington Station, New York, documenting Brayden doing something deeply personal and meaningful to him. Boxing wasn’t just another sport—it was part of his story.
Keeping it in the family, Brayden’s mom comes from generations of boxers. That legacy lives quietly but powerfully in the gym. You could feel it in the way Brayden moved, the focus in his eyes, and the respect he showed for the space and the work.
This session wasn’t about flashy highlights or putting on a show. It was about training. Discipline. Repetition. Learning control. Learning confidence. Every drill, every punch, every pause in between was a step toward something bigger than the sport itself.
The best part of the entire night wasn’t the combinations or the footwork—it was watching Brayden believe in himself. You could see his confidence grow as the session went on. That kind of confidence doesn’t fade when the gloves come off. It stays with you.
There was one line that captured the heart of the night perfectly:
“Every punch I throw, I learn who I am. Strong. Brave. Me.”
That’s what this was really about.
Thank you to the Moon Family for trusting me with this story, for honoring family legacy, and for allowing Brayden to choose his own path while carrying that history forward. It was an honor to document a moment that will last far beyond the walls of the gym.
